Description by Author

In 2014, our default theme lets you create a responsive magazine website with a sleek, modern design. Feature your favorite homepage content in either a grid or a slider. Use the three widget areas to customize your website, and change your content's layout with a full-width page template and a contributor page to show off your authors. Creating a magazine website with WordPress has never been easier.

  • One of the fastest loading themes By Marcos68, 2015-08-25 via wordpress.org

Twentyfourteen is one of the fastest loading themes I have ever tried, even when compared with other premium themes around. This is specially useful in heavy loaded webpages to ensure maximum speed. I am currently struggling about using it even on the professional website superar la depresion, as its clean code and simplicity appeals very much to me. One of the finest themes around and specially recommended for personal blogs.

I have a question since I applied this theme, how to spread the article’s left-width?
If you can solve this, please tell me~.
    Thanks in advance.

  • I love this theme By sharonvillines, 2015-05-25 via wordpress.org

I love this theme. Great flexibility. I use it with Styles, Styles Twenty Fourteen, and Twenty Fourteen Extended, and Jetpack’s Custom CSS.

  • CSS3 Compliant? By mythusmage, 2015-05-12 via wordpress.org

Why then is it impossible to use multi-columnn CSS?

  • Very practical By kg.bridgepub, 2015-03-25 via wordpress.org

I have been using this theme since it came out on two of my websites. It’s actually very fast and not so cluttered like some other themes. I love the way it handles featured images as well.

I would say that those who complain about complex styles just need to learn more about how CSS actually works. I have been able to easily modify the look and feel of the theme with the Jetpack Edit CSS feature without any trouble or strange hacks. I have seen MUCH more terrible CSS structuring in paid premium themes.

    Hat’s off, thanks!

  • sensible and useful default theme to date By faospark, 2015-03-25 via wordpress.org

one of the main strength of this theme is that it is a departure from the minimal light bandwagon that we have seen in the past. its one of the few default themes that is not inspired by a bond paper with horizontal lines (2012 default theme yup thats it heheh)
another strength is somehow it managed to pull in featured content functionality that was put in place in the by the core which is sadly still is laying suspension after all the years wordpress became open source.

over-all a very impressive release by the core. the only downside is how the css was coded. to output mainly 3 basic colors and few columns the css code fosters a gazillion of outputted css classes names all through out the code which actually can be combined. by simply examining it css code its like a tug of war between building it from the bottom up and reverse. in order to traverse tame the css code and visual appearance of the theme. one should be proficient in css which is a minus point for a lot of wordpress users

but all in all the over-all appearance and functionality of this theme is still one of the best so far that the core had

  • que me parece Twentyfourteen? By Renegado675, 2015-02-12 via wordpress.org

  • Theme is good looking, but css is very flawed. By LandisTwo, 2015-01-25 via wordpress.org

left sidebar is too wide in firefox
entry-content (post area) is too narrow with too much padding on right
right sidebar is too wide with too much padding on right
The space between the post (entry-content) and the right sidebar is too large

in WebKit, the Left sidebar is ‘moved’ to the bottom of the page, below everything else and becomes as wide as the viewpoint.

in the css entries are double entered as if someone didn’t keep track of what they were doing.

There is more wrong with it, but I have no time for this. I may find some more time latter to ‘fix’ the css and if I do, I’ll let someone know where to get the ‘fixed’ css…

The general look and color scheme, I like… I spent an hour or more on the css and was unable to get it ‘spaced’ correctly… So, I went back to my old theme…

    Bummer!

    Landis.
p.s., NO, you know what… I can’t stand to be beat.. ‘fixing’ things is what I do… I’ll keep it up for now. that way I am reminded to work on it…

  • What's new on version 1.2? By pangege, 2014-11-25 via wordpress.org

I have built my website “chromex64.com” with this theme, and I have customized with some changes, now it tells me to update but I didn’t build a child theme. I want to know what’s new on version 1.2 so I can decide whether I should update it or not.
