Good Solution for Building a Self Documented Site
By James Esteban, 2013-08-25
via wordpress.org
I like building sites with custom community because a lot of my customizations can be stored right inside the theme making it a lot easier for my clients when I’m no longer around. I also use the following plugins.
CMS Tree Page View
Insert JavaScript & CSS
jQuery UI Widgets
NextGEN Gallery by Photocrati
Online Backup for WordPress
Shortcode Exec PHP
Very Simple Google Maps
Visual Form Builder
WordPress SEO
WP Editor
I’ve found that in this way I never have to modify the actual code in the theme or the core and all of my special mods are documented by the tools. The ShortCode Exec PHP plugin is extremely nice for doing customer solutions.
Custom Community has been very responsive with solutions. I noticed that they fixed the Javascript problem caused during the 3.6 upgrade within a day or so. I use Next Gen but I still use the version that’s one version behind. Because I can’t upload images on 3.6 with the new one.
I was a little disappointed that I couldn’t take the CC export and import it into CC PRO. That was a disappointment which has lead me to continuing to use the free version on most of my new systems. So they missed a few sales there.

Over-all winner

The theme does exactly what it says on the tin. I was only marginally upset by some confusing admin options and the fact you have to go through an admin panel to add extra scripts etc.
Worth checking out. Worked really well with Buddypress.

Poor support

Overall theme was good but with the last update there are some issues with formatting. I can’t upload header photo and the old one doesn’t show, header height can’t be changed. Preview text in magazine mode doesn’t show over images and when you click on post image it leads only to image link. There’s a problem with youtube embedded video, width of category page and some other issues… Custom css from the previous version doesn’t make any changes in new version.
I contacted support about a month ago and i’m still waiting for the reply. From my experience support doesn’t exist and if you have some issues you will have to solve the problem by yourself.
For the theme i can give 4 stars but for support goes only one.

La verdad que vale la pena instalarlo, es muy configurable, y se integra muy bien con budypress.

Think I made a mistake buying this theme
By dermay, 2013-08-25

I purchased Custom Community Pro on 7/26/13, thinking that the download would be available as soon as I paid. They only allow payment via PayPal e-check, and it appears that the check needs to clear before the download will be available. They say nothing about this on their site, and I am now behind in development by several days. I sent an inquiry about it, but only got a reply that they will get back to me. If this is an example of how they operate, I think I am going to cut my losses here and go with another developer’s theme so I don’t waste time trying to get support. Too bad because it looked like a nice platform.

Thanks for this template!

Many, many thanks for creating this flexible template. In the past I have designed WordPress templates using Artisteer, however since I switched to a Mac, I no longer can do that. This template gives me so many options, I can really “customize” it….even with the free version.
I created a site for my church, and we appreciate the opportunity to use such an excellent product for free.
